Madara means "mottled" in Japanese, and we love the way this is expressed in the papier mâché-like appearance of this yarn. The semi-solid shades work well in both plain and textured fabrics, lending a rustic, tweedy look to your makes. Once washed and blocked, Madara yields a beautifully soft and supple fabric, with a subtle halo from the alpaca and the warm glow of silk. As with other Noro yarns, Madara's, single-ply structure is particularly fun for crochet, producing puffy, cushy stitches without splitting or catching.
